The CUTAWAY Programme for Highways Authority managed motorways and trunk roads would typically involve two applications of CUTAWAY. The first between late March and early May, with a second from late August to October. A single cut would be made in June or July.
A selective herbicide may be included in the spring CUTAWAY application to remove broadleaved weeds where required. The autumn CUTAWAY application has been shown to limit the build up of grass growth and to delay the onset of growth in the spring. This provides an enhanced degree of management and greater flexibility in timing of spring operations.
