CUTAWAY is applied at a rate of 6 l/ha in a water volume of 300–1000 litres of water. Application at the lower water volume can help to maximise output per day from spraying equipment and optimise spray retention on the leaf. Higher volumes may be required to give good coverage of denser foliage.
Application may be from conventional boom sprayer or specialist vehicle mounted sprayer for roadside verge or railway embankment work. CUTAWAY may also be applied by knapsack sprayer where grass is being treated in inaccessible areas.
Fast uptake of CUTAWAY into the grass plant ensures applications are quickly rainfast. This makes the product easy to schedule in wet summers, when cutting regimes can be severely disrupted. It also minimises the risk of environmental loss.
The inherently low hazard risk of CUTAWAY means that only the wearing of gloves is necessary, although the wearing of protective coveralls, gloves and appropriate footwear is advocated for good practice.
The CUTAWAY Programme must be applied by an approved contractor, following the Defra Code of Practice for the application of plant protection products.
Using approved CUTAWAY contractors will ensure the safe and accurate application, designed to achieve the best possible results.
Operators must be fully trained and compliant with the application of pesticides and hold the necessary PA Certificate of Competence. Where CUTAWAY is applied in conjunction with a herbicide, appropriate PPE should be worn.
The CUTAWAY Programme will include a full training package for operators compliant with COSHH, HACCP and due diligence requirements.
